$9.9 Billion Supplemental International Affairs Budget Approved 

May 16, 2008 – Yesterday, the House approved $9.9 billion in supplemental International Affairs funding for FY08 and FY09 by a vote of 256-166, as part of a supplemental funding bill primarily for the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan. At the same time, the Senate Appropriations Committee also approved $9.9 billion for the International Affairs Budget in its version of the bill. The full Senate is expected to consider the supplemental appropriations next week.

A Budget Conference Committee is expected to meet early next week to finalize the FY09 Concurrent Budget Resolution, following appointment of House and Senate conferees.  Final approval of the FY09 Budget is expected before the Memorial Day recess.
